Hey lovely ladies, I’m curious to hear about your experiences with PCOS and the number of eggs retrieved during your treatments. For those of you comfortable sharing, how did your Antral Follicle Count (AFC) compare to the number of eggs retrieved? Let’s support each other through these ups and downs!
My AFC was consistently over 70 and I was always able to retrieve at least 18 out of 23. While it’s possible to retrieve all 23, it’s more important to prioritize quality over quantity.
AFC was 29, with 34 eggs retrieved (32 of which were mature).
My antral follicle count on CD 2 was 23, and a total of 43 eggs were retrieved during the process (only 25 of which were counted in the final ultrasound 2 days before egg retrieval).

AFC resulted in the retrieval of 34 eggs, with 32 of them being mature.
I had an AFC of 23 on CD 2 and retrieved a total of 43 eggs (only 25 were visible on the final ultrasound 2 days before egg retrieval).
I had an AFC of 39 at the start, but switched to a luteal stim cycle due to ovulation issues. Despite only having 8 follicles on stim day 7, I retrieved 26 eggs and ended up with 12 blastocysts, 6 of which were euploid. I am thrilled with the outcome and will transfer a euploid 5AA on Jan 22 as I turn 40 in March. ![]()
I had similar results, obtaining more euploids with the round of Provera.
I estimate my AFC was likely between 30 and 35, although the actual count was never disclosed to me. I was able to retrieve a total of 45 eggs.
My Antral Follicle Count was 33 for the first round of IVF and they retrieved 28 eggs, while for the second round it was 38.
My AFC for my ER cycle was 113 and I retrieved 38 eggs. My doctor intentionally aimed for mild stimulation to prevent complications such as OHSS.
The AFC started with 35 but ended up getting back 43.
My doctor estimated my AFC to be over 28 follicles, as he did not count each one individually. I ended up having 31 retrieved, 25 fertilized, and 20 blasts. Additionally, my AMH was 22.
AFC yielded a total of 38 eggs, with 35 being deemed mature. Though not officially diagnosed with PCOS, there was a high AMH level for the individual’s age.
I will be beginning injections tomorrow without a PCOS diagnosis, but my AMH level is 8.1. My AFC was 24 a few months ago, but the doctor believes there may have been more follicles. I will update you on my progress in a few weeks! My protocol includes provera, Menopur 75, and Gonal 150 to start, with a Lupron trigger. I have also been prescribed cabergoline, provera, and letrozole for 7 days starting at the trigger shot to prevent OHSS.
I do not have PCOS, but I have a high AMH level of 20.1. I am unsure of my AFC, but my baseline scan showed more than 15 follicles on both sides. I had 75 eggs retrieved after stimming with 50 IU of follistim for 2 days, then reduced to 25 IU. I also took cabergoline starting on trigger day to prevent OHSS.
In the first two egg retrievals, my AFC was 40, but for the third one, they didn’t provide a number because they used new ultrasound software that didn’t calculate it. The number of eggs retrieved were 14, 12, and 12.
I retrieved more than 50 eggs, but only 30 were counted. This led to 15 embryo implantations, resulting in 6 euploid pregnancies.
There are 50 AFC eggs, which are good for at least 15.
