Looking for Hope: Successful Second Embryo Transfer Experiences

Hey everyone, I’m feeling a mix of nervousness and hope as I prepare for my second embryo transfer. The first one didn’t work out, and it was a tough journey. I’d love to hear from those who have been through a successful second transfer. Share your stories - the ups, downs, and everything in between. Let’s lift each other up in this emotional rollercoaster ride! :star2: #IVFjourney #Hopeful #SecondChances

After undergoing two egg retrievals despite having diminished ovarian reserve, we were able to obtain two euploids. Unfortunately, the first euploid did not result in a successful pregnancy, which left me feeling devastated and hopeless. Despite my doubts, my doctor suggested we try again and we opted for a modified ovulatory protocol for both attempts without any testing in between transfers. Miraculously, I am now pregnant with the second and final embryo. :face_holding_back_tears:, success has finally come our way.

The effectiveness of ERA as a predictor of outcomes is questionable. I would consider recommending a modified natural or ovulatory FET instead. Have you undergone a hysteroscopy, Receptiva test, or endometrial biopsy for further investigation?

My second transfer resulted in pregnancy, and now my baby is four months old. I’m not familiar with ERA testing, so I probably did not have it.

I delved into this because I’m excited to explore all options for my next cycle, but the HFEA rates ERA as red (moderate/high quality evidence suggests this add-on could potentially decrease treatment effectiveness).

I understand your pain and was in a similar situation in October. While it is a numbers game, statistically you have a good chance of success by the third try. My first FET failed in October and my doctor suggested doing testing next month, but I decided to go straight into another FET with acupuncture. The second FET was successful and I am now 8 weeks pregnant. It was a tough decision to make, especially since I had euploids left.

After undergoing two egg retrievals with diminished ovarian reserve, we were able to obtain two euploid embryos. Unfortunately, the first one did not implant, leaving me feeling devastated and hopeless. My doctor suggested that it was just bad luck and encouraged us to try again. Despite my doubts, we decided to give it another shot using a modified ovulatory protocol for both embryos without any testing between transfers. Now, I am happy to say that I am currently pregnant with the second and final embryo. :star2: #success

The effectiveness of ERA in improving outcomes has been questioned. I would recommend considering a modified natural or ovulatory FET. Have you undergone a hysteroscopy, Receptiva test for endometriosis, or a biopsy for endometritis?

I conceived during my second transfer and now my baby is four months old. I’m not sure what ERA testing is, so I don’t think I had it.

I researched this carefully because I am excited to explore all possibilities for my cycling plans next year, but according to the HFEA, the ERA is rated as red due to moderate/high quality evidence indicating it may decrease treatment effectiveness.

I apologize for your experience but I can relate to your situation as I went through a similar struggle in October. The odds are in your favor for a successful pregnancy by the third attempt. After my first failed FET in October, my doctor suggested taking tests like EMMA/ALICE/ERA & receptiva or changing the protocol for the next FET. I decided to skip the tests and go straight for another FET with acupuncture sessions. Fortunately, the second FET worked and I am now 8 weeks pregnant. It was a tough decision to make, especially considering the limited number of embryos.

Content warning: Achievements. It might be by chance, so I wouldn’t want to pressure anyone into spending money they can’t afford on a test that might not be necessary. However, after my initial transfer failed, I reviewed my notes and decided to adjust my progesterone in oil (PIO) timing based on my ERA results. This led to a successful transfer resulting in twins who are now 21 months old. My recent transfer has also been successful, as my beta test came back positive.

I am currently pregnant with my second transfer, although it is still very early. My first transfer did not result in a successful pregnancy, but both were similar fully medicated FETs. I do not have any additional advice to offer beyond what has already been shared. Wishing you the best of luck!

I am currently 15 weeks pregnant with my second euploid transfer. I am undergoing IVF due to recurring losses and my age, I was 40 at the time of retrievals. After my first transfer failed, we switched to a modified natural transfer timed with my ovulation. Not sure if that’s what worked, but I am now happy to be where I am.

After discovering silent endometriosis and elevated levels of the bcl6 protein through the receptiva biopsy, our second FET was successful. Our first treatment did not address these issues, but with our second treatment, we were able to address the inflammation and it has been effective so far.

Following two egg retrievals despite diminished ovarian reserve, we were able to obtain two euploids. Unfortunately, the first embryo did not implant, which left me feeling devastated and hopeless. Despite my doubts, my doctor encouraged us to try again and we did. Utilizing a modified ovulatory protocol for both transfers and foregoing testing in between, I am now pregnant with our second and final embryo. :face_holding_back_tears:.

ERA has lost credibility due to not resulting in improved outcomes. I would recommend considering a modified natural or ovulatory FET. Have you undergone a hysteroscopy? What about testing for endometriosis with Receptiva? Have you had a biopsy to check for endometritis?

My second transfer resulted in a pregnancy and now my baby is four months old. I am unsure about ERA testing as I never had it done.

I researched this because I am excited to try new things with my bike next year, but the HFEA categorizes ERA as red (suggesting that there is moderate/high quality evidence that this add-on may decrease treatment effectiveness.)

I truly empathize with your current situation, as I experienced a similar setback in October. It can be disheartening, but statistically, you have a good chance of a successful pregnancy by the third attempt. When my first FET failed, my doctor suggested doing additional tests next month or adjusting the protocol for another FET. Despite the recommendation, I opted to proceed with another FET and added acupuncture sessions. Fortunately, the second FET was successful, and I am now 8 weeks pregnant. While I chose to skip the additional testing, I acknowledge that it can be a tough decision to make, especially considering the potential risks.
