Uncomfortable Itching from Progesterone Suppositories

Hey all, I’m experiencing some intense itching after using progesterone suppositories and it’s driving me crazy. I’ve been prescribed these for fertility treatment, but the side effects are really getting to me. Has anyone else gone through this? Any tips on how to alleviate the itching or make it more bearable? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It’s possible that you had an allergic reaction to the prometrium suppositories, as you experienced itchiness and discomfort similar to a yeast infection. Switching to crinone for your FET seemed to resolve the issue.

The initial use of vaginal progesterone suppositories caused severe irritation and itchiness, leading me to switch to rectal administration after consulting my clinic. This change was a game changer, as it eliminated irritation, discharge, and the need for a panty liner.

My clinic advised me that if I could tolerate them, I should insert them anally. I have not needed to do so, but I recommend seeking advice from your nurses.

I typically use my progesterone rectally, but this weekend I decided to insert it vaginally. As a result, I have been experiencing discomfort and soreness around my vulva. My clinic advised me to use Canesten thrush treatment, which I did last night and it has provided some relief. I will definitely be going back to using it rectally in the future. If you are comfortable with that method, I recommend it.

I believe the FET will not be affected as I consulted my nurses about the itching and they were not worried. Showering more frequently alleviated the discomfort. I switched to crinone gel, which has been more effective. A person mentioned that using a finger for insertion instead of the applicator helped them.
