Hey everyone, I’m in a bit of a pickle. I accidentally punctured my Lupron trigger months ago and didn’t think much of it at the time. Now that I need to use it, I’m wondering if it’s still safe and effective. Has anyone been in a similar situation or have any advice on whether it’s still okay to use? I appreciate any help or insights you can offer!
Standard expiration dates tend to be conservative, often set at 30 days for many medications. While it may not be harmful to use on day 31, safety and effectiveness data is lacking. Some injections, such as insulin, may have longer expiration dates. If you are negative on the test, contact your clinic for further guidance.
I used Pergoveris that was opened in the summer for this cycle, but please consult with your clinic. I didn’t consider it until after use, but the main concern is bacteria in the open vials rather than efficacy. I have noticed more eggs growing this cycle than last with the same dosage.
Do you know if they will be testing you tomorrow to see if the treatment was effective? I am not sure if this is standard procedure, but my clinic typically checks for the LH surge before egg retrieval.
I’m feeling a bit off today. I had a retrieval in Aug 2024 and Lupron didn’t trigger with RE then, so I had leftovers. The pharmacy gave me a sealed capsule with BUD 11/13/2025, but when I took the premixed syringe out today, the sticker said 11/13/2024. I’m worried about the expiration date mix-up. I’ll wait for results from my bloodwork tomorrow and maybe try an ovulation stick. Nervous because my last cycle resulted in a chemical pregnancy.
