Has anyone else faced challenges with Kaiser coverage for IVF at CNY? I’m feeling overwhelmed trying to navigate the process. Any tips or experiences to share? Thanks in advance for any help!
I did not use CNY for my cycles, but I had Kaiser and my expenses were fully covered except for copays.
It seems like the only expenses that will possibly be covered are the egg retrieval and transfer. Unfortunately, Kaiser does not cover these costs for me, so I will be using what is covered and seeking treatment at CNY for the rest.
It is recommended not to bring up outside treatment to Kaiser as they do not provide support for it.
I didn’t use my Kaiser insurance for Chinese New Year but saved a lot of money on medication by reaching my yearly limit with one cycle. The next cycle was completely free! Just thought I’d share.
The Kaiser office I visited for my IUI procedures did not conduct my ultrasound and bloodwork for my IVF cycles with CNY. Despite this, I had CNY send all my medications to the Kaiser pharmacy, where they were very affordable, costing only $25 as my copay, which was a great help.
I am in a similar situation with Kaiser and CNY. You can get pre-lab work done through Kaiser by telling them it’s for a consultation with a hormone doctor. For the saline sonogram, you can go to fertility clinics for $250 and for the HSG, you can go to CNY for $275 or elsewhere for $1,200. Kaiser won’t cover ultrasounds and labs during IVF, nor will they cover medications. Kaiser will charge outside prescriber fees for medications if you have fertility insurance. Good luck!
