PIO Shots - My Unexpected Reaction

Hey all, I recently started receiving PIO shots for my fertility treatment, and I’ve experienced quite the unexpected reaction. After the first few injections, I noticed some redness and swelling around the injection site. Has anyone else encountered similar reactions with PIO shots? How did you manage it or alleviate the discomfort? Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated!

It’s possible that you are developing an allergy to the sesame oil base. It would be wise to consult your doctor. If this is the case, you can consider using another base such as ethyl oleate. While it may be a bit more costly, it has a thinner consistency and is said to be easier to inject.

This situation occurred on my third cycle, which was ironic. I have been reading a lot on this forum and decided to clean the area with an alcohol pad after the shot, making sure to avoid getting oil on the skin. Although I am still experiencing itchiness, it is not as severe. My clinic has recommended starting progesterone ethyl oleate, but I am waiting for a positive beta test result, so for now I am focusing on keeping the area clean and using hydrocortisone.
