I have experienced canceled cycles and had to sell my medications in garage sale groups due to expiration dates. I bought meds for a duostim cycle but became pregnant naturally before starting, resulting in excess medications. Additionally, unexpected surgery delayed cycles, but I was able to keep the meds for future use. So, it’s important to consider that unforeseen circumstances can impact a woman’s fertility journey and decisions regarding medication.
Last year, when I reached my out-of-pocket max, I received multiple shipments of free medications, which allowed me to complete about four rounds of treatment. Despite my requests, each shipment included new follistim pens and syringes.
My clinic carefully considers costs and only provides me with medications as necessary, preventing any excess. With an on-site pharmacy, I can easily receive additional stim meds during monitoring appointments without receiving too many.
I completed 7 cycles and my insurance provided coverage for 6 GAN for each one. Despite informing the pharmacy twice that I don’t require additional medication, I still received it. If it’s going unused, I may as well offer it at a reduced price to someone who could benefit from it.
