Need Opinions: Is Cigna Worth It?

Hey folks, I’m in a bit of a dilemma here and could use some advice. I’ve been considering Cigna for my health insurance needs, but I’m not sure if it’s the right choice.
I’ve heard mixed reviews about Cigna, some people say they have great coverage and customer service, while others mention issues with claim settlements and reimbursement delays.
If you have experience with Cigna or insights into their services, I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts. What has your experience been like with Cigna? Would you recommend it, or should I explore other options? Looking forward to your feedback!

The coverage can vary depending on your company’s contract with the insurance provider. Fortunately, there are changes in California laws this year that may bring benefits to you. Sending you best wishes! :sparkles:

I am covered by Cigna PPO, but not in your state. My experience with them has been difficult, as I have had to fight for every claim and deal with incorrect processing and rejections despite providing adequate documentation. Others may have had better luck with them, but I have encountered similar issues.

I have significant fertility coverage, but have only used a small portion due to Cigna not fully paying out what they owe. They have not reimbursed me for services such as embryo testing and anesthesia for my egg retrieval, leading to out-of-pocket expenses.

It is important to check if medications are covered separately or under the fertility benefit, as well as if you are required to use a specific pharmacy. I have had to pay a considerable amount out of pocket for medications due to these requirements.

If you have a Cigna PPO plan with no out-of-network coverage, make sure to get a gap/network exception if needed. Dealing with medical claims from Cigna has been stressful and disheartening, despite being grateful for having IVF coverage through my employer.
