Would you consider joining a Facebook group for IVF garage sales? I purchased 2 vials of Follistim and 11 of Menopur for only $200. Some people even give them away for free. I only purchased from people in my state due to shipping concerns, but it was very helpful.
MDR cost $4,000 for four units of the 900 IU quantity.
The second MDR - I paid significantly less than the stated amount.
When I last checked in June, Alto Pharmacy was offering 900 IU Gonal F (which can also be used as a substitute for Follistim) at $816 per pen for self-pay, making it a much more affordable option for 4 pens. Is the price you were given at Optum for self-pay or insurance? It seems very high, almost like an insurance price.
I also used MDR and purchased the 300 IU cartridges for $288 each. Each cartridge contained around 100-120 units of overfill, giving me extra medication.
I have a feeling that the price seems off. The $10,000 may be inflated if you use insurance for medication because they tend to raise prices for insurance. Follistim should be around $3,000. I purchased mine from Schrafts 2.0 and SMP.
In my opinion, Prima was more affordable than MDR. Specifically, the cost of Follistim at MDR was higher than Gonal F at Prima.
It’s worth trying Freedom, MDR, and Alto. Additionally, comparing the prices of Gonal and Follistim since they are similar.
I found the best deal on Freedom for my medication. I purchased Gonal F, which is equivalent to Follistim, for $768 per auto pen.
I also recommend MDR. Last month, they were charging $768 for a 900 unit Follistim, which was slightly cheaper than Alto and other places I checked.
Is $1,805 for 6 cartridges of Follistim 600 through my insurance at CVS a reasonable amount?
