After 5 failed IUIs, we decided to move forward with IVF, and I had my egg retrieval at the beginning of August 2022. They retrieved 24 eggs, 14 of which were mature, but only 3 fertilized, and just 1 made it to blastocyst. It’s now frozen, and we’ve decided not to do genetic testing.
I haven’t had a laparoscopy to diagnose endometriosis, but I did have a pelvic MRI that suggested adenomyosis. My periods are so painful that I often have to call in sick from work, and I even ended up in the ER once because of the pain.
My OB-GYN advised against a laparoscopy due to the risks and because there were no signs, like cysts, that indicated it would help. He also mentioned that it would delay our FET date due to the recovery time.
My reproductive endocrinologist (RE) suggested three options: birth control or Lupron to suppress endometriosis/adenomyosis, or go straight to FET.
My husband and I are thinking that, after spending so much money and enduring the stims and meds for egg retrieval, we should go ahead with Lupron, even without an official diagnosis, to make sure everything is optimal for implantation.
What do you all think? Has anyone been through something similar? I would really appreciate your advice and experiences.
