I’m scheduled to travel soon and I’m a bit anxious about managing my Lupron Depot injections while on-the-go. Do any of you have experience with this? I’d love to hear your tips and insights on how to handle injections, storage, and dealing with any potential side effects away from home. Your advice would be much appreciated! I traveled to Mexico while on Lupron Depot and it went well! Despite experiencing frequent hot flashes, I managed by keeping a neck fan charged in my beach bag and staying hydrated. Remember, this medication affects everyone differently, so don’t cancel your trip prematurely as you may feel completely fine. Best of luck!
I took a trip to Vegas/Zion during week 7 of my Lupron treatments, and while I don’t regret it because I needed a break, I realized halfway through that I was pushing myself too hard physically. I thought I could hike while on a break from IVF, but Lupron was tough on my body. I experienced headaches, insomnia, and dry skin during the trip, so looking back, it may not have been the best time to visit the desert. My advice would be to go on the trip and take things easy.
I’m almost done with my 2-month suppression and I have to admit, some moments were really tough! But I would have really appreciated a trip to Hawaii to help me relax during it haha.
Be sure to consult with your doctor about potentially using a progestin to help manage side effects. My surgeon suggested Norethindrone Acetate (Aygestin) as a good option for hot flashes, especially if started right after receiving the shot. Overall, I had a positive experience with minimal side effects like dryness and itching, which were effectively treated with over-the-counter products.
I truly didn’t have a terrible experience (finished in June). Dealing with hot flashes and headaches was my main challenge. Remember to stay hydrated and avoid overexerting yourself, like another commenter suggested. It would have been amazing to visit Hawaii instead

Don’t worry, Lupron Depot may not be great but it shouldn’t have a major impact on your life. I have been able to go skiing, visit Hawaii, and fly cross country multiple times while taking it.
