Help! Air Bubbles in My Syringe - What to Do?

Dealing with air bubbles in your syringe can be frustrating, especially when you’re trying to administer medication accurately. If you’ve ever struggled with this issue, you’re not alone. Here are a few tips that might help you out:

  1. Tap the syringe: Gently tap the syringe with your finger to try and dislodge the air bubbles. Sometimes, this simple action can help the bubbles rise to the top of the syringe.
  2. Push the air out: With the needle pointing up, push the plunger slowly to push the air bubbles out of the syringe. Make sure you’re in a safe area where you won

I encountered an issue with cetritide where the vial with a changeable needle caused stubborn bubbles that tapping the needle did not remove. Despite my initial stress and a small amount of air being injected, my clinic assured me it was not a problem. I continued with my cycle as planned and it all turned out fine. For menopur, I made sure to take a tiny extra amount to ensure the exact dose was administered. This adjustment did not seem to have any negative impact on my egg retrieval. Best of luck with your cycle!

After pushing in the air, I make sure to turn the syringe needle upwards, flick out any air bubbles, and push out any excess air. Occasionally, a small amount of medicine may be released, but that’s normal! It’s important to follow the instructions and expect to see a few bubbles.

What are you worried about? I wouldn’t recommend trying to remove them because you might accidentally misplace some of the medication, and they are not important for subcutaneous injections.

Injecting the solvent into the menopur powder while the vial is tilted has significantly reduced the number of bubbles.
