Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how I manage to stay positive when life throws challenges my way. It’s not always easy, and there are days when it feels like the world is against me. But over time, I’ve developed a few strategies that help me keep a positive outlook no matter what. I find solace in nature, practice gratitude for the little things, and surround myself with supportive and uplifting people. How do you stay positive when things get tough? I remember that sometimes it’s okay not to be strong. I let myself have “lazy days” where I don’t cook, I do my work but not beyond, no housework.
I am possibly the worst at this - but I aim for it.
To keep going it’s just one step then another. What’s next? Take bins out. Okay. What’s next?
Honestly, sometimes it feels like high functioning depression - it might look like strength but inside crumbles.
Other days it’s much easier and I feel stronger cause I have a goal in mind and I want it.
What I’ve found helps is having small daily goals/tasks - these are usually dishes and bins, and a dog walk. But also having goals through the months. I’m in 3 book clubs which gives me 3 tasks which are fun.
Strength doesn’t mean endless positivity, or showing no weakness, like bravery being action in the face of fear, strength is action through something. But don’t forget to rest - carrying strength is exhausting - rest is critical to remaining strong.
I’m so sorry. Losses are so incredibly hard and heartbreaking. I’ve experienced a few myself/some set backs that I didn’t see coming. How I stay strong is just by continuing to take the next immediate step. No one is strong because they want to be. We are all so strong because we don’t feel like we have another choice - we are all doing IVF because we’re hopeful to have babies, and that goal is the North Star. But it doesn’t make any of it easy. And sometimes being strong and taking the immediate next step looks like taking a rest month. Sometimes it looks like jumping right back in. It doesn’t have to be constant progress all the time. I used to think taking a break would slow my momentum but the rest months have actually been the most valuable to my journey.
I’m rooting for you, whatever your next step is ![]()
