Feeling overwhelmed: Tips to soothe your frazzled mind

Feeling like the world is spinning out of control and your mind is going a million miles a minute? We’ve all been there at some point, and let me tell you, it’s not a fun place to be. When everything seems chaotic and your anxiety is through the roof, calming the hell down can feel like an impossible task. But fear not, because I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve that might just help you find some peace amidst the storm.
First things first, take a deep breath. I know, I know, you’ve probably heard this a million times before, but there’s a reason for that - it works. Close your eyes, inh

I have found that acupuncture has been incredibly beneficial in keeping me centered and calm throughout this difficult experience.

I’m not usually one for mantras, but I do think it’s important to remind yourself of certain truths in this process. Your time will come, you’ve come a long way and you’re almost there. You’ve done your part and there’s not much more you can do at the moment. It’s hard, but some things are out of your control. Whether the FET is successful ultimately depends on fate, luck, or a higher power. It’s important to learn how to calm and direct your thoughts, whether through therapy, yoga, or meditation. Give it a try!

I was in a similar situation as you, having gone through unsuccessful IUIs and dealing with PCOS. I was convinced that I wouldn’t get pregnant on my first transfer and would encounter more fertility issues. Despite the challenges, we were able to obtain 10 euploids after three egg retrievals.

Although I’m only 10+6 weeks pregnant, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how smoothly my pregnancy has been going so far. Our first transfer was successful, with positive betas and a healthy baby on track in every scan.

I understand the feeling of losing hope after going through tough times, but it seems like things are looking up for you. Even if your first transfer doesn’t work out, you still have 7 embryos to try with. Take this time to enjoy things you might miss during pregnancy, like wine, aperol, chorizo, soft cheese, etc. Your frozen embryo transfer will be here sooner than you know!

Are you similar to me? I am also 31, dealing with PCOS, and have 7 untested embryos. It can be difficult to not feel overwhelmed, as I experience it daily. Reading posts on this subreddit and others can make you question if something is wrong with you as well. Remember that everyone’s journey is unique, so try not to compare yourself. Sending you good luck and positive vibes :sparkles:.

If you are not utilizing therapy or medication, seeking help can be beneficial.

This seems like too much for you. Even though you did well in one round, you appear to be overwhelmed. I suggest speaking with your doctor about possibly using therapy and medication to control your anxiety. It may also be a good idea to avoid unnecessary tests.

I’m not sure if it’s entirely possible to relax, as it can be a stressful process. Personally, I have found exercise, specifically power walking, to be very helpful. It may be comforting to remember that you have a high chance of pregnancy with seven embryos. Have you considered PGTA testing? It has helped me to confront negative thoughts head on and understand my fears better. Seeing a nutritionist may also help alleviate some food anxieties. Wishing you the best of luck!

Feeling all these emotions is completely normal and valid. I can relate as we prepare for our first FET in the coming months. I am considering setting up a therapist for support during and after the transfer, knowing I may feel anxious. Distractions, such as reading, hobbies, and planning enjoyable activities, have been helpful for me. It’s a delicate balance of optimism and realism, but know you are doing everything you can to make this a success. Best of luck to you!

Relax about trying to relax. It will either be successful or not, and eventually you will realize that the efforts you are making do not matter.
