Feeling Lost: Optum Specialty is Closing 😔

Just found out today that Optum Specialty is unfortunately closing its doors soon. This news definitely hit me hard as I’ve been a customer for a while now. It’s been my go-to place for all my specialty needs, and I’ll miss their excellent service and products. Time to start looking for new options, but it won’t be easy to find a replacement as good as Optum. Has anyone else here been affected by this closure? Let’s support each other through this transition.

I am employed by Optum and was unaware of this information. I recently reordered my fertility medications and was not informed of any changes. It is possible that this only applies to certain locations contracted with your plan. I will investigate further and provide an update.

Yes, I received a letter in the mail but so far, Alto has not been up to my expectations. Ugh .

I also received the call and got the same message regarding Optum closing their fertility med department on 6/27. My medications will be moved to Alto as well. It’s sad to see Optum go since they have been great to me. Hopefully, Alto will be just as good. I have United Healthcare Oxford, in case that is useful to anyone else. Same day delivery is now possible for those of us near Long Island.

Hello there! Could you please confirm if this closure is temporary or permanent?

Has anyone had experience using Costco’s specialty pharmacy after switching from Optum with our insurance?

We are experiencing the same issue. We contacted Alto Pharmacy to refill an order, but there have been some complications on their first day with the Optum transfer. They are requesting help from the billing department and promised to call us back within an hour. We are worried because our medication supply is running low.

My spouse just received news of Optum closing and switching to Alto, which ironically means “Stop” in Spanish. It seems to be a widespread change, not limited to just our region.

Today, I received a text prompting me to register for Alto, which I attempted but encountered issues. Now, I am receiving messages from Alto informing me that Optum is still managing everything.

I received the letter and ordered medications last week. I attempted to transfer my prescriptions to Alto for refills, but received messages indicating that Optum would be the one continuing to fill them. I’m curious if this is due to trying to transfer on the last day. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I received a letter earlier this month notifying me that my medications would be transferred to Alto. But on 6/30, I received a call informing me that they are not closing and will be filling my prescription for delivery on 7/1.
