Feeling Lost: 40, Failed IVF, One Mosaic Embryo - To Transfer or Not?

It’s been a rollercoaster journey - failed IVF attempts, and now, at 40, I find myself with just one high mosaic embryo. The uncertainty is overwhelming. Should I go ahead with the transfer? Has anyone been in a similar situation and can share their experience? I would appreciate any advice or insights. Thank you!

I’m facing a similar situation with two missed miscarriages and one high level mosaic embryo remaining. I’m currently undecided about whether or not to proceed with a transfer. My clinic is suggesting a consultation with their genetic counselor to discuss the various causes of mosaicism. Perhaps that would be a good place to begin exploring options.

We only had success with one HLM out of 2 retrievals and just transferred her last week. Both betas have been strong, trying to stay optimistic. Any shared experiences would be appreciated!

I chose to use a high-level mosaic as a backup and ended up with three 5AA and one 4AA euploids from three more retrievals. If possible, I suggest pursuing additional retrievals and keeping both high-level and low-level mosaics. While success rates may be slightly lower, many women have achieved pregnancy with these embryos.

My sincerest apologies from the depths of my heart. While I don’t have a personal story to share, if you’re seeking to have a child, consider transferring it, especially with your hormone experiences in mind. The odds may not be in your favor, but there’s still hope. Some members of this group have had successful births from high mosaic embryos, so I hope they will share their stories here .

I have a lively two-year-old from a low-level mosaic. Our clinic did not permit transfer of embryos with severe genetic disorders such as trisomy 13, 18, 21. My child was a mosaic of +12, which has rarely resulted in a live birth, with only a few reported cases of mosaics. It’s worth considering mosaics as a potential option!
