Feeling Discouraged: Battling Sickness Before FET

Hey, everyone. I’m feeling really down and stressed right now. I have my frozen embryo transfer (FET) coming up, but I’ve been hit with sickness, and it’s making everything feel so uncertain. The timing couldn’t be worse, and I can’t help but worry about how this might affect the outcome of the procedure. Has anyone else gone through something similar? How did you cope and stay hopeful during times like this? Any words of encouragement would mean the world to me right now.

My egg retrieval experience was not affected by COVID, but I fell sick right before it. I repeatedly confirmed with my clinic if it was safe to proceed, and they reassured me every time.

I have six children, all conceived through IVF. The oldest four are approximately two years apart, so I have been feeling unwell after a few transfers or shortly after. As long as you can lower your fever, there is no reason to believe it will affect the outcome.

During my third transfer, I developed an upper respiratory infection and had a severe cough. I was worried I would cough out the embryo, but miraculously, that transfer resulted in my now 19-month-old son! If you’re sick during a transfer, fever may be a concern, but as long as you’re prepared to take medication to control it, you should be okay.

I am feeling unwell and my transfer is on Thursday. My doctor said it is fine as long as there is no fever. I would recommend wearing a mask.
