Feeling Defeated: My First Failed FET

Hey everyone,
I wanted to share my experience with you all. Today I got the news that my first FET didn’t work. I can’t help but feel disappointed and frustrated. The waiting, the hope, the letdown – it’s like riding a rollercoaster of emotions.
I know many of you have been through similar experiences, and I would appreciate any advice or words of encouragement you can offer. How did you cope with your first failed FET? What helped you stay positive and resilient through this challenging journey?
Thanks for listening, and let’s support each other through the tough times.

My clinic checked my levels at the beginning and during monitoring appointments, but did not check after starting PIO or before transfer. However, they have never refused when I requested additional bloodwork. I personally don’t see any issues with your estrogen or progesterone levels, so I’m not sure why you think they are low.

My levels were monitored before starting, during halfway, and on the day before my FET. I was told to up my PIO dosage the evening before transfer following lab results for both FETs.

I went to the clinic on day 12 of my cycle for my transfer. They confirmed that ovulation was almost ready and scheduled my trigger shot for the next evening at 10:00 pm. Two days later, I started using progesterone (400mg supp. 2x a day). Five days after the trigger shot, I had a blood test for progesterone and estrogen levels. The results came back great, and they instructed me to continue taking the progesterone and to confirm the transfer for the next day. This is the standard protocol for male factor infertility at my clinic. I have a healthy 28-day cycle and ovulate regularly. They offered to do a totally natural cycle without the trigger shot and progesterone, but I wanted to increase my chances. I hope this information is helpful.

Have you been tested for a chemical? See my latest post for the list of things I will be tested for.

I don’t see any issues with your estrogen or progesterone levels; I don’t understand why you believe they are low. My clinic checked at baseline and monitoring appointments, but did not check after starting PIO or before transfer. However, I have never been denied when requesting additional bloodwork, so I believe it’s worth asking.

I visited the clinic on day 12 of my cycle for my transfer. They confirmed that ovulation was almost ready and scheduled my trigger shot for the next day at 10:00 PM. Two days later, I started using progesterone suppositories twice a day (400mg). After five days, I had a blood test to check my hormone levels, which were great. They instructed me to continue taking the progesterone and to confirm the transfer with the embryologist for the next day. I am following the standard protocol for male factor infertility in my clinic, even though I am healthy and have a regular 28-day cycle with regular ovulation. Although I was offered the option of a completely natural cycle without the trigger shot and progesterone, I decided to go with the standard protocol to increase my chances of success. I hope this information is helpful.

My levels were monitored at the beginning, halfway through, and the day before my FET. On both occasions, I was advised to increase my PIO dosage the evening before the transfer once my results were reviewed.
