I’m feeling a bit torn on whether to do my saline infusion sonogram (SIS) before my retrieval or right after my stims. Does anyone have experience with this? Not sure which option is best for me and could use some advice and insights. Would love to hear your thoughts!
Perform this procedure after taking stims and before attempting a transfer, especially if you plan on freezing all embryos. I know someone who had polyps removed prior to starting stims, underwent a transfer resulting in a miscarriage, later discovered that the polyps had returned, and had to undergo another removal prior to another transfer. If you do not have a history of polyps and wish to have a fresh transfer, having the procedure done before stims should be acceptable.
My doctor recommended completing it before transfer, which may occur a significant amount of time after starting stims.
I completed my part first, but they had to delay starting to remove a polyp. It would have been disappointing to go through stimulations only to not finish a cycle due to a discovery. Frozen transfers may offer a different experience, but I opted for a fresh transfer.
I’m not entirely sure about your timeline, but my clinic advised against performing SIS and stims in the same cycle due to the possibility of fluid leakage causing disruption in the follicles.
