Hey everyone, I recently had my embryo transfer and now I’m in the dreaded Two-Week Wait (TWW) period. The wait is nerve-wracking, and I can’t stop thinking about whether I should plan a vacation to destress. Has anyone here taken a vacation after their transfer to keep their mind off things? Did it help you relax and stay positive during this crucial time? I’d love to hear your experiences and any advice you might have on managing the anxious wait. Thank you!
It’s a good plan, but just be aware that your transfer may be postponed or called off. I began a medicated FET with the expectation of a transfer on April 4th. Due to thin lining, it was postponed first by 5 days, then by another 4 days, before ultimately being canceled. I had initially pulled out of a work training course to make room for the transfer, but now I am no longer doing either.
Going on a trip sounds like a great idea overall! Plane travel is usually okay during the Two Week Wait. Just be cautious of hot tubs and check for Zika risk at your destination. Also, watch out for food poisoning. If you like to test early, make sure to bring some FRERs just in case. Keep in mind that your FET timeline may not be exact due to your body’s response to hormones. I’ve had 5 FETs and experienced unexpected delays due to lining issues. Good luck and enjoy your trip!
My beta is scheduled for tomorrow and I will be leaving for vacation on Wednesday. At this point, I decided to start living my life and I have been told that air travel is safe after the FET procedure.
My reproductive endocrinologist advised against traveling for one month after FET if successful. Blood tests and ultrasounds will be part of the follow-up care during that time. It’s important to consult your doctor about any post-transfer travel concerns.
