Feeling Anxious: Frozen Transfer after ER?

Hey all, I’m currently navigating the world of frozen transfers after egg retrieval, and I could use some support. I recently had my egg retrieval procedure, and now I’m preparing for the next step - the transfer of our frozen embryos. I have a mix of excitement and nervousness about this process. What should I expect during a frozen transfer cycle? Any tips or personal experiences to share? I’d appreciate any insights or words of encouragement as I embark on this part of the journey. Thanks in advance!

I used to believe that frozen embryo transfers had better chances than fresh ones. After researching preimplantation genetic testing, I have changed my opinion and wouldn’t do it again unless there are known genetic issues. It’s important to consider doing another egg retrieval before transferring your only embryo because success rates are a numbers game. I’ve had success with fully medicated FET but am having issues with medication the second time around, so I am trying a modified natural approach. There are many variables to consider when manipulating your body in this way. In my opinion, the timing of the transfer after egg retrieval doesn’t significantly impact the outcome.

Did u just say ONLY 12% of all successful IUIs result in multiples at 40+?? Unless I’m misunderstanding that statistic, that sounds really high.

Do you know the sizes of your follicles and your estrogen levels? If your follicles are in the high teens for millimeters and your estrogen is 400-800ish is when you’d trigger, then try to have timed intercourse from 24-36 hours after that (maybe even at 24 AND 36 hours if you can manage it). Yeah if you’re over 40 I would not be worried about multiples with 4 eggs

When you would trigger depends on how big the follicles are. Generally you trigger once they are 15-20 mm.

I did an IUI with four follicles, so I understand taking this risk, but I would definitely read up on selective reduction (and ensure it is legal where you live) before proceeding with this.

It should be your decision not theirs. Did you speak to a nurse or the RE? Same thing happened with me, I had 4 follicles and the nurse said you might have multiples so don’t proceed if you don’t want that but your likelihood is so low it prob won’t happen.

You usually do the trigger shot around day 10 (around 8pm) after your final baseline and then have sex two days later which is the day of ovulation from the shot. You should also have sex the two days after you take the trigger shot.
