Embryo Transfer Timing - Sharing My Experience

I recently went through egg retrieval as part of my fertility treatment journey, and now I’m eagerly awaiting the embryo transfer. I’m curious to hear from others: how long did you wait after egg retrieval for your embryo transfer? Did you notice any differences in outcomes based on the timing? The doctor advised against PGT testing due to my age, so we opted for a fresh transfer five days post egg retrieval. Fortunately, the baby stuck and is now almost eleven months old!

During my last cycle, I had my embryo retrieval and now I am going directly into a frozen embryo transfer. I have been placed on birth control while we wait for the preimplantation genetic testing results.

5 days post-retrieval, …

The retrieval was on November 9, the cycle was returned on November 21 (with hcg only trigger, starting sooner with a dual trigger). The PGTA results were received on November 25, and the FET is scheduled for December 13.

Make sure to ask your doctor if they recommend a hysteroscopy with biopsy before transferring. Our doctor included this procedure in their standard protocol without informing us beforehand, causing delays in our transfer process. It turned out that I had chronic endometritis, which required treatment and follow-up biopsies. This information would have been helpful to know earlier in the post-retrieval phase.

Hello! I took a break for one cycle after my retrieval, which ended up being two months!

I had my egg retrieval in mid-June and experienced some level 2 symptoms of OHSS but not severely. Despite not planning on a fresh transfer, I underwent PGTA and had my first FET in mid-October after missing the September IVF cycle deadline. While the timing felt quick compared to some fresh transfers and FETs done within a month, I preferred waiting for various reasons.

My FET is scheduled for January after my ER in November, with PGTA testing and an SIS in December to ensure there are no polyps or fibroids.

My frozen embryo transfer occurred three months post my egg retrieval, as I had to undergo a polyp removal and wait for the results of the PGT testing.

I had my second embryo retrieval in October and waited for the PGTA results. We found out that some embryos were euploids after the next cycle began, so I had a frozen embryo transfer two months after the retrieval. The transfer took place last week and now I’m in the two-week wait period. I had a high number of eggs retrieved this time, which may be why I still feel a hormone imbalance even after two months. My naturopathic doctor assured me that it shouldn’t affect implantation, but I was a bit anxious. I think if I wait one more month, my hormone levels should return to normal. Ultimately, I believe it’s best to follow the recommendations of your doctor.

My retrieval was on the 9th of December and a fresh transfer was not possible due to the risk of OHSS. After getting my period on the 14th of December, I started birth control in preparation for a medicated FET, with the transfer tentatively set for the 19th of January. This is about a month and a half after retrieval, but my doctor is inducing my next period early to allow my ovaries to reduce in size and avoid complications.

My euploid embryos were created in the ER in mid-February of that year, PGT results were received a few weeks later, and the FET took place at the beginning of April.

It took around six weeks as I had to undergo a procedure to remove scar tissue from my uterus.

I have a question: Does male fertility issues increase the likelihood of pregnancy, especially if the woman has no problems?

It took me around 6-7 months, with various procedures including retrieval in May, hysteroscopy in June to check for polyps, endometrial biopsy/receptiva in July, and suppression in August-September. Unfortunately, the FET scheduled in October was canceled due to fluid, but I was able to successfully undergo a second FET cycle in November.

I transferred a PGT embryo from a previous cycle in the following cycle.
