Embarking on Our Reciprocal IVF Rollercoaster – Hormones, MS & Migraines Await

My partner and I are kicking off our reciprocal IVF journey, and let me tell you, it’s a whirlwind of emotions and challenges already. Between managing my multiple sclerosis (MS) symptoms, dealing with unpredictable migraines, and the rollercoaster ride of hormone injections, it feels like we’re navigating uncharted territory every day. It’s a mix of excitement, fear, hope, and uncertainty all bundled together.
I’d love to connect with others who are on a similar path or have gone through similar experiences. How do you cope with the ups and downs of hormonal changes? Any tips for managing MS symptoms while undergoing

I typically experience ocular migraines, with rare full migraine pain, that affects my vision. The combination pill used to cause weekly ocular migraines in my younger years. I went to 2 ERs with nagging headaches, Tylenol helped slightly but didn’t fully relieve the pain. During one ER visit, I had a severe estrogen spike leading to vision loss and intense pain. I had to call my husband for help and used ice packs to fall asleep and woke up with lingering pain. It’s important to take care of yourself during migraines and prioritize sleep if needed. Consult with your clinic about safe medications during Stims. Good luck and take care!

I have been using nerve blocks for my migraines while TTC and will be going in for a treatment on Wednesday. They may not last as long as Botox, but they are effective. I have heard that Botox might be safe during TTC, but I am opting for alternatives. Make sure to check with your doctor about NSAIDs during FETs. For those on triptans, inquire about their usage during egg retrieval. Due to migraine with aura, I was able to skip the typical birth control cycle before my egg retrieval.
