Battling Bruises: Need Help with Lovenox

Hey everyone, I recently started taking Lovenox injections, and I’m struggling with the bruising they leave behind. It’s making me hesitant to continue my treatment. I’ve tried applying ice before and after injecting, as well as massaging the injection site, but the bruising persists. Have any of you experienced this? Any tips or tricks on how to minimize bruising and make this process a little easier? Your advice would mean a lot!

I switched from doing it in the belly to exclusively in the love handle. It stings a bit, but it’s nothing compared to the unbearable itching burn that made me want to scratch my eyes out.

I’ve used it for two transfers and haven’t found anything better, but I believe I’ll eventually get used to it. I alternate sides of my belly button daily to even out the bruising. :upside_down_face:

I disliked the burning sensation, so I researched tips and found a method that works for me. I start by using one ice cube to prep the area before the shot. When injecting, I grab as much skin as possible and inject slowly, possibly at a 45-degree angle. After injecting, I leave the needle in the skin for 10-15 seconds and then apply another ice cube for a minute while still holding the skin. I continue applying ice for another minute before slowly releasing the pinched skin.

I concur with the decision to do injections in the love handles as it is less painful. I am currently doing Lovenox injections throughout my pregnancy, and I cannot fathom injecting them in my stomach for the entire duration.

Keep icing until it’s too cold and numb.

I have to await a positive beta before my doctor allows me to start the treatment. I am nervous about not being on it yet, but not looking forward to it as it seems unpleasant! However, a positive beta will make it easier to begin. Good luck to you as well!

Hello! I had to use lovenox during my stimulation cycle and I am currently 7 weeks and 2 days pregnant and will need to continue using lovenox for the entire duration of my pregnancy. It’s frustrating! I understand what you’re going through. One tip that I found helpful is to wipe the needle clean after removing air bubbles and allowing the drops to come out. It helps a bit. I haven’t found a foolproof way to avoid the stinging yet, but I’ve noticed that sometimes it stings and other times it doesn’t. I have been injecting in my stomach, but during stimulation when I had to take up to four shots a day, I injected in my love handles. I might switch back to that since my stomach is already bruised. Best of luck to you!

I’m wondering why this is causing so much pain :sob::sob::sob::sob::sob::sob::sob::sob::sob::sob::sob:.
