The side effects of the stim meds were tolerable for me, with bloating being the main issue. I also experienced a feeling of constantly needing to eat, although not necessarily out of hunger. The bloating improved after visiting the ER.
I am currently on my ninth day of IVF treatment and just started using cetrotide two days ago. This is my first time undergoing IVF at the age of 35. I highly recommend using “pain cakes” from Amazon to help with injection pain - I apply it 30 minutes before my shots. The ice pack has helped reduce pain more than I expected. I still feel some discomfort from the menopur injections, but deep breathing helps. I also use heart bandaids as a reminder of why I am going through this process. The main side effect for me has been fatigue, with some headaches and cramping in the first few days. The spotting has since stopped and the cramping has decreased. I have not done the trigger shot yet. Feel free to ask me any questions and good luck with your cycle!
Remember to wipe the needle tip with an alcohol swab before injecting Cetrotide to avoid any discomfort. Not sure if it itches or burns, but wiping the needle beforehand should help. Ice before using menopur. By following these steps, you may find the process easier!
Luckily, I experienced minimal side effects from the stimulation and egg retrieval drugs during the fresh transfer, aside from bloating and sore breasts. Mentally, I felt the calmest and happiest I’ve ever been. During the medicated FET with Progynova, Cyclogest, and Lubion, I did experience some rage and emotional moments, but overall had no other side effects. The Lubion injections were quite painful.
The side effects of weight gain and mood swings were uncomfortable for me, but nothing too overwhelming. I was so bloated that I could barely button my pants by the end of the stimulations, but it’s nothing to be afraid of!
I was a bit nervous before starting my first round of stims, but it ended up not being as bad as I had feared. I did have some side effects, but the actual injections were easier than I had anticipated. I had never injected myself before, so I was anxious about that. During the first round, I experienced frequent headaches, not severe enough to take medication but noticeable. I also had a constant feeling of hunger and couldn’t stop eating.
For the second round, I was on different medications and experienced different side effects. This time, I didn’t have headaches or excessive hunger, but I struggled to fall asleep and lost my appetite. I had to force myself to eat to ensure I was getting enough nutrition.
Overall, bloating and tenderness in the pelvic area are common side effects. As the eggs grow in the ovaries, they take up more space, causing discomfort in the area.
The stim meds were tolerable, but the aromatase inhibitors for FETs are unbearable. I experience all the symptoms of women on Lupron suppression, making it extremely difficult to function on these medications.
I shared some symptoms of taking progesterone that impact me the most. Bloating and constipation can be intense during IVF and FET, so be prepared to adjust your diet or take medication. Take care of yourself and ensure open communication with your partner. This is a challenging time, but you will be okay. Wishing you luck and positive vibes on your journey.![]()

Currently on day 6 of stims, the only side effect I have experienced is some tenderness in my abdomen and slight bloating. During the birth control phase before stims, I had reduced appetite and felt nauseous and full after eating. It’s still early in my stims journey, but so far, everything has been manageable.
The symptoms I experience from the cetrotide include bloating, fatigue, headaches, and slight changes in attention skills. It also makes me slightly itchy and red at the injection site due to my sensitivity to such things.
I found the side effects of the stimulants to be quite severe. During the second half, I experienced a terrible headache, nausea, and various stomach problems. It seems that my experience is not the norm as most people report feeling great. This lack of preparation and disappointment caught me off guard.
I was also feeling anxious about this. I didn’t have any symptoms except for bloating around day 9/10 of stims. I actually felt more calm and less irritated overall.
I took the same medications for both egg retrievals. I experienced no side effects except bloating at the end. With the second retrieval, I did have some burning from a higher dose of menopur, but letting it warm to room temperature before injecting significantly helped.
