Struggling with IVF after C-section, need advice please!

Following. So sorry for your loss. I’m right there with you. And on the same journey and my journey is (hopefully) not over. I long to have a living child one day. Over the summer-My daughter passed away 11 days after birth because of a rare non genetic congenital heart defect. She was conceived via iui. It was a planned c section. She had 5 surgeries and couldn’t come off ecmo. Had her full term planned c section. And she passed at 11 days old

Did egg retrieval about 8 weeks later and then my Dr wanted to do diagnostic hysterscopy and sis. Everything look she said with my scar and healing and internally. She sent cultures to lab and cultures came back with slight inflammation so my Dr said I may have mild postpartum Endometritis. Gave me doxycycline to take for 2 weeks and said it will help because this can affect implantation.

Def get checked for Endometritis. I had no symptoms, she said it’s really common after c section. I healed well my scar looks great (internally and externally) I would have had no idea if she didn’t send it to the lab

I hope this will help. I’m trying not to give up this is so hard

I’m so sorry for your loss, I can’t even imagine. I hope it eases your mind to know that I had an emergency c-section with my first and am having a planned c-section with my IVF baby in December. The first c-section didn’t cause any trouble at all. I wish you all the best in your journey :heart:

I spend too much time on Reddit and ChatGPT, and now that I’ve lost my daughter I feel like I’m drowning in pessimism. I don’t know why things should go ok now. But stories like yours give me strength!

I am so, so sorry.

I did IVF and then had a c-section due to HELLP Syndrome. Did a FET about 15 months later and conceived and had another c-section. Zero issues caused by the surgery.

I wish you the best, best odds.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I conceived my son via IVF and gave birth to him in March via c-section after stalled labor. We want to give him a sibling eventually, and my RE said they’d want to do a hysteroscopy and SIS first, but assuming those are fine, she has no concerns and wouldn’t treat my case any differently. From her experience, assuming everything healed well, no reduced chance of IVF working because of past c section.

Wonderful  I’m happy for you (and hopeful for me)

During IVF it became clear that there was persistent fluid inside my C-section scar that tracked into my uterine cavity. This is a no-no for transfers!! A c-section niche/defect/isthmocele was identified and I had a hysteroscopic surgery to reduce down the edges to minimise the pocket.

If you’ve just done back to back retrievals though and nothing was mentioned about fluid during your scans, I don’t think this is something to worry about. A saline sonogram is apparently best to visualise the scar and any defect.

I am so so sorry for your loss.

I have two living children conceived via IVF - my first was a c-section, and my second was born vaginally and there were no issues with either pregnancy or birth. For various reasons I waited three years before the transfer of the embryo that is now my second child, but my doctors would have been comfortable with a pregnancy the earliest 12 months following my c-section.
